This project was inspired by Dr. Henry Dube’s research on molecular motors, at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, in Germany.
The animation will show how the molecule takes up both visible light energy and thermal energy, causing the motor fragment of the molecule to spin and potentially function as a molecular motor. It will also demonstrate how steric hinderance results in uni-directional rotation. This is the fastest uni-directional motion of a synthetic system driven by visible light to date!
